Red Nova Labs Unveils New Name, New Business Model
Company's Fresh Identity Reflects Evolving Priorities in Web-related Innovation
Overland Park, KS — April 21, 2009 — After a full company reorganization and comprehensive branding exercise, Red Nova Labs unveils its new corporate identity this month. The name and theme center on the company's new core value proposition of cutting-edge development for web and mobile communications.
"A 'luminous Red Nova' is a stellar explosion caused by the merging of two stars," explains Carrie Royce, VP of Marketing at Red Nova Labs. "It's a geeky metaphor representing the nature of our team as well as our goals as a company—merging businesses and customers via rich yet friendly user interfaces. Externally, the look and feel imply our tech savvy. Internally, we hope it will serve to emotionally connect our people to our strategy. It is my firm belief that internal branding can be as crucial as external branding to building a strong, enduring identity."
"Connection" is the overarching concept, potentially bendable to different ideas as the company grows and takes on fresh challenges. David Howe, Director of Product Development, sees it this way, "We have transformed from a singularly focused incubator into a versatile business that connects companies with rarefied web development processes. Our new brand reflects who we have become and the innovation that sets us apart. We're expanding into new markets, acquiring new capabilities, and creating tools and technologies that launch unique ideas—all to ensure that we make it easier and faster for our customers to reach their markets."
Prior to the incorporation and inauguration of Red Nova Labs, many of the company's web developers worked together in another start-up, benchmarking some of the industry's most efficient front-end and back-end development systems. Their original code generators – which added "drag-and-drop" ease to complex industry-standard website programming – were initially built to support a vast yet highly scalable social and commercial network for the digital creative community. That system was geared for hundreds of thousands of users.
Early in 2009 the team regrouped to expand its horizons beyond the highly saturated market of digital music and art. The prior start-up was dismantled to make way for new partners and new business ideas. Today, Red Nova Labs is already finding numerous applications for the unique systems and related intellectual property built in 2007 to 2008. The company plans to develop solutions for media, food service, real estate, financial, and industrial communities.
Jeffrey Barber, VP of Engineering, describes his team as technologically diverse and geared up for the change. "Out the gate, Red Nova Labs is stocked with engineers from blended backgrounds. Each one of us brings pioneering experience in web, mobile or game development. Together, we're an innovation ecosystem of mixed ideas, capabilities and technologies—well suited for catering to different markets, especially with custom-built code."
The company's website, www.rednovalabs.com, was published on April 13th to reflect the company's broad changes, from the brand identity to the business model. A complete transition is expected to take under three months.
